Taking Pictures

The focus of this workshop is not photography in itself. Many people, including one of the moderators' students, have made perfectly viable video slideshows without any training in photography whatsoever. Nevertheless, if you wish to improve your basic technique (or simply to brush up on what you already know), here are links to tutorials explaining a few rules that can help you to compose better pictures. However, remember that the most important rule is "Feel free to break any rule if it becomes an obstacle to your creativity."

Simplicity

Rule of thirds

Lines

Balance

Framing

Avoiding Mergers

Golden Hour
